My Comic in the New York Times

And some other stuff

Hello! It’s been a minute. I want to change that. I have noticed that social media has really gone downhill lately. No one else has had this observation, so I’m calling it the “Ellis Theory of Social Media Really Going Downhill Lately.” My point is that I think I’m going to try and post here on my newsletter more often, as an alternative.

But what do I post? At first I was like, why would I just post the same stuff here as I do on IG? But then the brilliant Nicholas Gurewitch pointed out that maybe people who like my work want an excuse to leave social media too. I’m not quitting IG, I’m still going to post there, but maybe I can slowly ease more into this platform, and maybe you would like to slowly ease here with me. That sounded gross but I’m keeping it.

I’m going to start with this comic I drew that ran last month in the New York Times Book Review section. It’s about “Cultural Osmosis” which is my favorite excuse for my laziness.

Also! This week I have a cartoon in the 100th anniversary issue of The New Yorker. It’s the darkest toon I’ve sold to them, I think. I’m not an edgy guy. Unless you consider meekness edgy. I once tried to reinvent myself during my first year of college to a really badass guy. I even changed my name to something really dark and scary sounding: Chris Gaines. Anyway, it didn’t work out. Here’s the toon!

What else:

That’s it for now! Thanks for reading!
